Prior to the invasion both US/UK administration made substantial efforts to present a façade of unified Iraqi opposition in
order to justify their illegal invasion and to win the flagging US/UK public support.
On reflection I made a remark in 1993 to the Deputy Prime Minister, Tariq Azziz, that Iraq is very fortunate for having
such Diaspra opposition not only lurking outside its borders, but disunited, and lacking credible local support. The current
lawless situation is a manifestation of the above and the failure of occupation. The fact remains then and now that these
Iraqi Diaspra were only united in their revenge and hatred of Saddam, beyond that national loyalty, or governance were a consideration
beyond their capability.
This Diaspra opposition grouping were made up of two factions of opportunists:
A collection of non-Arab origin collaborators/traitors, with terrorist pasts having separatist allegiance to Safavid;
Iran (Sciri, Dawa and Al Sader/Mahdi) or Kurdish warlords of the Barazani and Talabani clans with close ties to the Zionist
entity.
Dissatisfied ex-Baathists who lost favour with the Iraqi leadership (Ayad Alawi and his small group aligned to US/UK).
Few ex-Baathist;athists who maintained their opposition but were opposed to the maintenance of sanctions and invasion (presently
are loosely involved with the Green Zone Diaspra).
Indeed in view of the aforesaid it is absurd for some to propagate the Bush/Blair's administration's assertion that the
Iraqis are divided on ethic and sectarian divides. Particularly in view of the following:
(1) Divisions gained prominence since the occupation in order to undermine the popularity of the resistance to occupation
and to establish an intellectual/professional desert as a prelude to dividing Iraq into three regions and the establishment
of permanent US bases.
(2) The population are unable to move freely within their neighbourhood or into other districts because of numerous checkpoints
and road blocks. Those who roam freely are Mossad, CIA, the militias and foreign mercenaries where lawlessness and sectarian
ethnic fighting served their interest.
The present paralysis by fear is a reflection of the US/UK dependency on Diaspra Iraqis to rule Iraq, particularly as
their shortfall of disunity, incompetence and corruption were known to officials of HM Government and the White House. Yet
the US/UK further encouraged the new Iraqi police and Army to be solely drawn from the militia of the Badir Brigade, Mahdi
army and the warlord’s Beshmurga!!
The rush by Bush/Blair to invade Iraq is widely acceptable to have been based on lies, violation of UN Charter, and an
ambiguous end game. Embarking on an election under occupation or the drawing of a new constitution by the CPA has failed
to bring about stability, improvement of living standards, or development of fair oil policies. The majority of the Iraqi
people (outside the Green Zone) regard the invasion and the presence of the US/UK troops as having contributed to their problems
by fueling sectarian/ethnic in-fighting. Also encouraged nepotism, corruption, unemployment, downgrading of education/health
care, flight of Christian minorities, professionals/ academics and general lawlessness. While during Saddam's rule, according
to the UN Iraq achieved prior to sanctions, the best free health and education in the region, together with a flourishing
industrial manufacturing capability, eradication of illiteracy, public ownership of the oil resources, women's equality, secular
society where minorities rights are upheld and sincere solidarity with the Palestinian struggle.
His rule was ended by unilateral illegal foreign invasion.
His trial was a sham, illegal, unjust and violated all legal and human rights standards.
His brutal lynching was carried out by SAFAVID Iraqi with total contempt for normal human behaviour. Paradoxically his
life was ended similarly to the fate of Imam Hussain and Omar Al Mukhtar by blind revenge. Indeed their despicable misconduct
at the lynching has elevated Saddam to be regarded as a martyr by many in the Arab and Islamic world. Victors justice at
its worst!
